Ceremonies!
In the long and long ago in the very misty beginings of time,the old ones knew they must go before Creator and ask for a weay to teach the People to love and respect each other.
And so one of the very first sacred ceremonies began,that of coming before Creator to ask for wisdom and blessings.Now these Elders knes this must be a very special ceremony because if they did not show proper respect and humbleness Creator would not answer,and the world would become a chaos of rude hate filled people.
They also knew if that happened the peoples of this land would never be able to live together with each other or the other peoples of this world,the animals,plants,and birds.The fire must be lstarted using the sacred flames given by Creator,a circle must be cleared and cleaned as Creator made everything to follow the Circle of life.
The prayers needed to be just right so we were not asking for more than we needed or not enough,so they took many days to prepare them.The music and dancing too must be just right,so new drums and flutes must be made and purified,the dancers and players too must be prepared and purified so as not to offend Creator with wrongness.
Water must be used as well as Earth,the colors of the gifts must be right,tobacco found and made ready to offer with the prayers.Everything must be done exactly right,with the proper things done so Creator would know how much we loved and needed His guidence.And each new ceremony even to this day are given the same thoughts,time,and respectful humbleness to show Creator we know we are only human,but we wish to do these things in a pleasing way!
This is the way my grandmother passed these things to me,and her grandmother to her. This story I was told is as old as our memories,and this I believe to be true!
